Ozegahara is a plateau that lies between Gunma, Fukushima and Niigata Prefectures, and it is the wettest area of Honshu. Ozegahara is an Important Natural Monument and is listed in the Ramsar Convention. Wetlands and mountains create a splendid view, and this area also has a variety of wetland plants. The trademark vegetation of Ozegahara are skunk cabbages that bloom from late May til mid-June, and therefore a lot of tourists come around this time. In addition, visitors can enjoy over 200 kinds of flowers that bloom here until September. In October, falling leaves create a great autumn view and brings something new every season.
